Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
